Here are some pictures from christmas parties. The play group got together and we also went to Megan's house to decorate gingerbread houses.

We made it to Grampa Gunnar and Grammy Karnen's house for Christmas Eve and had a great time. Owen got the boat he always wanted.

We had a great Christmas get together at the house. We're loving our new camera too.

After Christmas we headed to Vermont for a couple of days. Lauren snowboarded and didn't fall after a 10+ year break. I tried snowboarding for first time and stopped being sore today. I'll stick to skiing most likely.

Here are some recent pictures. We went to Hibachi. Owen didn't want to go at first. The exact quote screamed over an over again in the car being:

"I DON'T WANT TO GO TO HIBACHI!!!"

We went to the Haverhill Santa Parade and had a lot of fun.

We also made it to the Methuen Festival of Trees.

Charleigh saw snow for the first time. She even had her first face-plant in it as seen below.

Halloween pictures from 2009. We tried to get as many uses from the costumes as possible. We have some pictures from the playgroup.

Owen wasn't feeling well at all on Halloween so we didn't get many pictures at all. It was also drizzling for most of the night. Good thing there are play group pictures.

Charleigh doesn't fit in the sink anymore. She's moved onto the bathtub.

Lauren and the kids headed off to Vermont for the weekend. Trees were cut down, pumpkin festivals were attended, leaves were raked, and more pumpkins were carved.

Here's a batch of photos. We have some pictures from Charleigh's photo shoot for her baby announcement. We were lucky enough to have have Sarah of Sarah Jordan Photography fame take some great pictures.

We were good and only put a handful of photos of Charleigh sleeping around the house. Really, I don't know what else we expect her to do to pass the day.

Over the weekend we headed to Clown Town in Andover. Owen was upset that he didn't get to go into the big boot bouncy house but he had a blast riding the motorcycle, trains, and trucks.

Auntie Melissa came on Sunday and I think Owen had a blast. The uncles should know they are on notice to step up the fun a little.

Owen's bed is a hit. Last night was his first night sleeping in it. He made it the entire night and even slept in until almost 7:20AM. (A near record for the little guy who's usually yelling "Dada, I want out!" 5:45 every morning from his crib.)

We posted some pictures from Easter weekend in Connecticut. The weather over the weekend was great. We went on a lot of walks and even went to a playground. It's official, Owen is fan of real whipped cream and not really an easter bunny fan.

Mac OSX 10.5.2 is Good

I installed the update to 10.5.2 on my laptop and I'm a satisfied customer. A few really annoying problems in previous versions of Leopard seemed to have disappeared.

1.) Mail.app is usable again. This didn't seem to be Apple's bug as much as it was GrowlMail's bug but I'm glad 10.5.2 decided to disable GrowlMail by default. Another problem I had was that subject line in the top display pane sometimes didn't match the email body in the lower pane. I didn't spend much time tracking down the issue but it seems to have been resolved. I've started migrating back from Thunderbird for my work mail. (No offense is meant towards Thunderbird btw. I just liked features in Mail by preference such as Spotlight indexing, Edit in Textmate, look & feel. I probably could have invested time getting Thunderbird working the way I would have liked but never did it.)
2.) Google Notifier works behind my company's proxy server again. Until this update it crashed every morning when I fired up the laptop.
3.) Translucent Menu Bar is a configurable option now.

I'm just glad my mail setup now works again. It's been a while so I'm glad to have it back.

There are still some items that I still can't seem to get working though. The most aggravating is authenticating users against OpenLDAP using an SSL or TLS connection. I've tried editting /etc/openlap/ldap.conf as suggested from Google Searches but still no luck.... Unencrypted connections do work like a champ though which isn't too satisifying since this all worked under Tiger without any problems.

We posted some new pictures of Owen lounging around in his PJs. It's been a busy couple of weeks for Owen. He's started walking and with just over a full week of practice he's getting quite good at it. Running, jumping, and more colorful bruises can't bee too far off.

New Website Design

It's been almost five years since I tried to update the look of maclock.net. This is my latest attempt. I hope that I've learned a couple of lessons from my attempts to design a website in the past.

1.) I am horrible at gui design!!! I used to write everything by hand. This time I've enlisted the help RapidWeaver. It's really cool and knows way more about web site design than I ever will.
2.) Vi isn't a web site design tool unless you know what you are doing. It may be a tool for you but it isn't a tool for me....
3.) CSS shouldn't be hard but damned if it isn't for me. Another great application that saved the day was CSSEdit.

I hope this page looks a little bit more modern than the previous version. That isn't exactly setting the bar high though.
